Community Health Focus Hour — Autism and African Americans
What’s the Scoop on Autism and African Americans?
UChicago Medicine’s Urban Health Initiative urges you to tune into the Community Health Focus Hour, this Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1-2 p.m. to learn about Autism and African Americans.
A new government survey of parents suggests that 1 in 45 children, ages 3 through 17, have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is notably higher than the official government estimate of 1 in 68 American children with autism, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Join host Dr. Ed McDonald to acknowledge Autism Awareness month and learn how to spot autism in young children and discuss climbing autism rates and how they affect the African American community.
